I am absolute loving the ‘Sport Luxe’ look this season. T-shirts, jeans and joggers teamed with heels and accessorized seems to be a common theme among my outfits these past winter months. Possibly to do with the fact that in the cold weather all I want is comfort. Also, I like to look deceivingly athletic despite to create the illusion that I actually do have some muscle definition. All my purchases these past couple of weeks has helped to create this illusion; my favourite being leather joggers and a mint green tank top that makes me appear to have well defined abs. Can’t complain. So when I saw this jersey inspired oversized tee online I knew it would make the perfect addition to my newly ‘athletic’ wardrobe.
Another thing I love about this trend is that it reads ‘oh really this old thing? It’s just something I threw on’ but you know you secretly tried to look this good. No one has to know.
I brought the most amazing coat this week as a little present to myself for making it through this semester of classes. Any excuse to buy new clothes really. Coming into winter I am consciously trying to introduce bold colours into my outfits: and this is bold! So teaming it with all black seemed only natural.
I got really excited shooting this look. I guess I felt super chic in this coat, especially because of the high collar. It’s so perfect for Melbourne’s cold weather at the moment. Also, I finally didn’t need to wear a scarf. What made this photoshoot fun was also the location. I wanted to move my photos to this garage because I wanted a contrast with this sleek ensemble. I found a pretty good dump I think. I really enjoyed working with the gradient of the floor to get some really interesting angled shots. I think that fitted really well with the ‘Russian Spy’ look (my mum’s words).
Last night I saw the truly amazing Legally Blonde: The Musical. It was such a fantastic show. My favourite part was not the fact that they had real life dogs playing Bruiser and Roofus, nor the topless dancing guys throughout the production, nor the amazing vocal abilities of the cast, it was the fact that Elle had her own Greek chorus of Delta Nus. They were absolutely hilarious. I wish I had my own group of Goddesses ot help narrate my life. Watching them dance about the stage, performing hilarious songs and reciting jokes and one liners made me want to be in musicals. Truth be told, I feel that way every time I see a musical. The only downside to the night was that I was blocked not only by a pole – which didn’t bother me too much – but I had a 7 ft woman sitting in front of me. By the end I was prepared to tell her to crouch down. But all in all, FANTASTIC!
I have been waiting to wear this Sister Jane Dress. I have loved the jewel and psychedelic prints from Nicholas the Label and White Suede, and when I found this gem I couldn’t resist. Especially since it was more in my price range. My friends and I were even told we “looked fabulous” and now were featured on the Legally Blonde Facebook page. So I was feeling qute confident in my little number. Also, Emma Bunton wore this dress on Saturday Night Takeaway, so I feel a little more upmarket wearing it.
Today I had my interview, on Lygon st. I feel like I live there now between all the times I’ve been there with my boyfriend and uni friends in the past month…they’re probably starting to recognize me. They kept the interview very casual, taking me to Brunettis, a popular Italian cafe. It really helped my nerves to be able to hold onto a coffee cup instead of fidget nervously with my hands; and who can argue with a free coffee. I think it went well, but they said I’ll know by next week sometime. So fingers crossed, and I’ll keep you posted!
I met up with my boyfriend afterwards and we went to the same cafe as in my previous post…and got the same dish. I told you we couldn’t wait long. I didn’t want to look so formal when I met up with my boyfriend so I packed a cute cropped knit to wear with my skirt to make it more casual. It’s amazing what a difference one item of clothing can change your outfit. I didn’t end up taking a photo of my outfit with the blazer because I was too nervous to think about an outfit post at that stage. But here is a photo of my blazer, how lovely is it!
It gives such a grand statement compared to the traditional black blazer. People should not be afraid to stray from black blazers, especially in the workplace. A blazer, whether it be royal blue or neon green or floral print, will always give a sense of class and sophistication to any outfit.
Here’s some blazers im coveting at the moment; which can all be purchased here at The Iconic:
